Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT):

  • Hormones for masculinization/feminization of the body
  • Therapeutic use of hormones

Hormone blockers

  • Medication that prevents the onset of one’s biological puberty
  • Stops all puberty-related changes to the body
  • Can be reversible

Gender marker assistance

After three months on HRT we will provide a DMV official certification to have your gender marker legally changed on your identification card (license/state id) Sex marker assistance

Legal document: name and gender change info.

What to Expect for HRT

First Appointment

  • Filling out paperwork regarding medical history – yours and your families
  • Physical exam
  • Be educated on all medical considerations for beginning and/or continuing your transition hormonally
  • lab work

Second Appointment

  • Review lab work
  • Discuss next steps for your care
  • Discuss informed consent regarding starting hormone therapy
  • If you will be using injectable hormones we will have lessons on proper self-injection methods                                                                                

Continuing Care

  • Return to ARHC 3 months after being prescribed hormones
  • Routine blood work will be done every 3 months to monitor hormone levels
  • If you will be using injectable hormones we will have lessons on proper self-injection methods
